On Saturday 23 July, Chris and I joined members and supporters of the wealden line campaign on their annual sponsored walk, to help lobby and publicise for a reinstatement of the rail link between these two towns. As far as reinstatements go this is an acid test of the governments commitment to public transport and integration. The railway was a 'dirty' closure - being politically motivated, as the line was profitable to the end in 1969... Alastair Darling has dismissed the idea recently in parliament - so the fight continues.
